Thanks for his post. We just learned that an old friend of my sisters from highschool took his own life on Wednesday. She is in shock. As someone who suffers from depression and contemplated suicide, she was able to fight through the pain and push on with life and heal to raise a beautiful family. Years ago they had spoken openly about their illness and she had thought that he was currently at a good place in his life. He got married a year ago.
You are right you never can tell what is going on with friends no matter how close or distant you are with them. Some people are so consumed with pain that that feel it is the only way out. Thank you for bringing attention to this as it makes me selfishly enough, be so grateful that my sister has been able to choose to live, as I wish so many others could do.
You do make people happy! Keep creating beautiful music!

patmonahan:You know Pat, it is hard to not take things personally. The thing is, people who say bad shit about others, have nothing better to do with their lives, so they look for the negative. We all have negative things about us, this part is true. I can understand how it would be hard however, to have someone expose publicly something negative about yourself. To this I say…”take it with a grain of salt”. I know it is easier said than done, but when you see all the positive things people are saying about you…YOU have to say screw em! Look at the people who love what you do, how you inspire idividuals to be better people!! People who listen to your music are instanly uplifted. You know, I could be having the crappiest day, I turn on any one of your tunes, and I feel positive right away. Forget the losers who say crap about you. They dont have a clue what you are about!! That is what I would do. :) Feel better Pat!

patmonahan:So Pat I have been thinking. What if you raised money for children who are unable to afford proper footwear. Winter weather is coming and I know of several communities who have familes that send their children to school without socks and winter boots etc. So if we were running, would it not be appropriate to run for shoes for kids? Train could sell t-shirts on your website for people who are running in the event, and they could say something like “In Train-ing”. The money from the tees and the money raised during the event could go towards that cause? Dont know what you think about that, but it has been on my mind and thought I would put it out there! Being that I am a childcare worker, I am passionate about the well being of children and fully support anything that you would be willing to bring to my area.
